Can perfection and happiness co-exist?

We all thrive for perfection when it comes to our body but is it worth it?

So many of us spend way too much time scrolling through social media looking at photos of girls who LOVE training and look ‘effortlessly’ perfect with their perky bums and flat stomachs. We begin to believe that in order for us to be happy we need to look like these people. These people’s lives are perfect!

No – these peoples lives are made to look perfect. No way in hell would they ever post a photo for the whole world to see of their post food babies, pimples, cellulite, hairy legs or pale skin.

Which is fine everyone is the same, myself included I don’t want people seeing me at my worst but the problem is when it is fed to us constantly we start to believe that this is how we need to look in order to be confident and happy. We then put too much pressure on ourselves and constantly put ourself down 'I'm too fat' 'I'm too thin' 'I want a box gap' 'my thighs are massive' ect. ect. you ALL know what I'm talking about here!

Now I’m going to be totally honest – I freaken loved my body on stage during my fitness comp I was confident, secure and down right sexy – it was the closest to ‘perfection’ I’d come BUT was I happy? Yeh for the 5 minutes on stage I was happy and when I got my photos I was wrapped but the 3 months leading up to the comp I wasn’t and the 2 weeks post comp I wasn’t either – I know right but I had abs, a tan, no pimples, I was lean and COMPLETELY hair free – what wasn’t to be happy about? Well
unless you maintain the super strict diet your body doesn't stay like that FYI and to look like that takes sacrifice from all other aspects of your life – you become distant from the ones you love because you are too obsessed – obsessed I feel is the real representation of how I felt through the experience – I’d over think my foods, my exercises and my body – having abs and a perky bum did not make me happy.

It was not healthy and it left me with some shitty habits I’m still trying to rid.

If you are constantly striving for ‘perfection’ because this girl has this and that girl has that you’ll never be content. You will never be these people nor should you want to be – yes work hard in the gym, sweat and eat healthy, good foods but remember life is all about balance so when you over obsess about how you look in comparison to other people you will never be satisfied no matter how flat your stomach is – so enjoy brunch with your besties – drink coffee – go out dancing – have goals and smash them.

We all have flaws, stories and imperfections but that’s what makes us unique.

Once you start to accept this and realise that perfection doesn’t exist only then will you be truly happy.

Deep one today guys but I see too much self shaming too often (myself included) and it just kills me inside because you are all fabulous and I wish you could see it!!

SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHY?!?

-Why is the first place I loose fat my boobs and the first place I put it on my ass?

-Why is it so f*cking hard to stop at one row of chocolate?

-Why do we always have to do overhead exercises when I forget to shave my under arms?

-Why does one minute seem like 5 while training?

-Why do I stalk and follow so many hot girls on Instagram?

-Why can my partner eat a small village and still have abs?

-Why is a pull up so god damn hard?

-Why does boost always have to have a massive line?

-Why does my bladder feel like it is going to fall out during any jumping exercises while I have my period?

-Why do burpees have to be good for you?

-Why can’t broccoli taste like cheesecake?

-Why can’t I follow summer around the world?

-Why doesn’t shopping count as cardio?

-Why do quest bars make me look like I’m due to give birth?

-Why is workout gear so expensive & addictive?

-Why are avocados so expensive and why do I have to pay extra?

-Why can I never find matching socks?

-Why does my partner want to touch my stomach after I smashed 3 slices of pizza?

-Why is it socially acceptable for men to take their shirts off while training yet females get judged?

-Why do dressing room mirrors either make you hot as hell or a slumpy hag?

-Why do calories count even though no one saw me eat them?

-Why is cardio hardio?

-Why don’t I look like Margot Robbie?

-Why is the struggle real?!

WHY?!?

How to beat cravings...

You know when you just get that overwhelming urge that you need that certain food…. Like right now…

It’s always some sort of delicious gooey, chocolate covered, sugar filled treat?

Why can’t we crave apples?

And why when we do want sugary treats is our mind so quick to loose all self control and we just give it?!

And when we give in why can’t we stop at a row? Why must it be a whole block?!

It is because our mind is smarter then we give it credit for….

So how do we overcome cravings?

Well cravings (from what I’ve seen) normally happen when people all of a sudden cut the whole food group completely and for some people this works and they can handle their cravings but for those of you who give in too easily…

DON’T CUT IT COMPLETELY

Wait what?

Nope you’ve got it – if you normally eat chocolate or some sort of highly processed sugary treat daily by going cold turkey your body will be going haywire, you’ll tire your brain out from avoiding it and eventually give in taking out all of isle 9 with you.

The BEST way to overcome cravings is to slowly eliminate the food over time.

Lets use the example above and say you have a chocolate bar everyday – it’s a king size freddo.

Week 1 – instead of buying a king size freddo you buy a normal size everyday.
Week2 – instead of buying one everyday you buy one every second day.
Week3- instead of buying one every second day you cut it to twice a week
Week4- instead of buying one twice a week you buy one per week.

How much less overwhelming does that look and sound?

Elimination and healthy eating doesn’t have to happen over night by making small improvements every week it becomes habit and before you know it you’re thinking ‘what freddo?’

How I did it….

‘I couldn’t do it’ is a phrase I’m hearing all too much at the moment when people are congratulating me about my comp.

It isn’t that you CAN’T do it, it’s that you don’t WANT to do it…

I WANTED to do it because it was my personal goal and I knew the formula.

Just like with your goals they will become more achievable if you truly WANT them.

I more then like do not want to achieve the same goal as you and you might think my comp was a massive crock of crap – that’s absolutely fine because goals should be personal BUT the formula to achieve them is the same.

It is about turning thoughts into actions, it’s about making a plan and sticking to it, it’s about not giving up when things get hard, it’s not thinking of how far you’ve got to go but how far you’ve come.

ANY GOAL IS ACHIEVEABLE.

YOU CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING.

You just need to know what you want and once you figure this out the process becomes a lot clearer and leaves little room for failure.

IF you know exactly what you want when it comes to health and fitness goals but you’re not exactly sure how to achieve them - I can help you.

I’m offering x5 online once off health & fitness plans to help you achieve your PERSONAL goal for a small once off investment of $300

This offer is open to all females ready to take action.

Rest & Recover diet – the good, the bad & the ugly….

One week post comp – it has been a pretty interesting week to say the least!

Eating healthy foods for almost 15 weeks then really upping the anti roughly 8 weeks out – I didn’t notice it at the time but my body was functioning in peak form.

I was complaining of being tired and exhausted at times but these were due to the fact I was training quite intensely and roughly 10 days out I cut carbs for one week which messed with my energy levels a dose of sweet spud and a good sleep fixed both of these things right up!

Being post comp and being on a what I would call ‘rest and recover diet’ for the week where I’m eating whatever I want, don’t get me wrong it isn’t like I’m going nuts and smashing all the chocolate I’m still eating as what people would consider fairly healthy with maybe a cheeky donut or two. I have noticed my body disagree with the intake of food I’ve been having strange reactions – I’ve had heartburn over the week… I’ve NEVER had heartburn, I’ve had headaches almost daily, my skin is looking dry and dull, pains in the back of my knees or what I would call growing pains, I’m itchy (this could just be the 10 layers of tan coming off), I’m bloated by the end of the day and even by the end of some meals (with what looks like an 8 month old food baby), my nose gets blocked randomly for no reason and I even woke up with an extremely swollen eye.

I remember some of these reactions use to happen to me pre comp – I didn’t notice them disappear but I’ve sure as hell notice there return!

So many people out there don’t know how there body should feel and function – we feed it highly processed ‘foods’ on an hourly basis - you shouldn’t be in pain, bloated and dull these are all ways of our body telling us what we are putting in it is doing more harm then good. I’m not saying start comp prep – far from it but seeing the difference in my body both internally and externally it is unreal!!!

Anywho my rest and recover week has come to an end and I’m back into training and eating right for my goals - trialling out a 12 week program I’ve written up, excitingly still includes  rest days, date night and a day where you get to eat what you want – now that’s a maintainable diet!! I’m super pumped about this girls!!!!

Now I’m off to finish my final R&R treat peanut butter ice cream with choc chips GUILT FREE!
