How to beat cravings...

You know when you just get that overwhelming urge that you need that certain food…. Like right now…

It’s always some sort of delicious gooey, chocolate covered, sugar filled treat?

Why can’t we crave apples?

And why when we do want sugary treats is our mind so quick to loose all self control and we just give it?!

And when we give in why can’t we stop at a row? Why must it be a whole block?!

It is because our mind is smarter then we give it credit for….

So how do we overcome cravings?

Well cravings (from what I’ve seen) normally happen when people all of a sudden cut the whole food group completely and for some people this works and they can handle their cravings but for those of you who give in too easily…

DON’T CUT IT COMPLETELY

Wait what?

Nope you’ve got it – if you normally eat chocolate or some sort of highly processed sugary treat daily by going cold turkey your body will be going haywire, you’ll tire your brain out from avoiding it and eventually give in taking out all of isle 9 with you.

The BEST way to overcome cravings is to slowly eliminate the food over time.

Lets use the example above and say you have a chocolate bar everyday – it’s a king size freddo.

Week 1 – instead of buying a king size freddo you buy a normal size everyday.
Week2 – instead of buying one everyday you buy one every second day.
Week3- instead of buying one every second day you cut it to twice a week
Week4- instead of buying one twice a week you buy one per week.

How much less overwhelming does that look and sound?

Elimination and healthy eating doesn’t have to happen over night by making small improvements every week it becomes habit and before you know it you’re thinking ‘what freddo?’
